Returns & Refunds

We forge each axe to outlast its owner — but if the axe in your hand isn't the right one, we make it easy to send it back. Here's exactly how it works.

The short version

  • 30 days to return any standard axe, from the day it arrives at your door
  • No questions, no restocking fees, no judgment
  • Custom-engraved or personalized axes are final sale — they are made specifically for you and cannot be resold
  • You pay return shipping unless the axe is defective — in that case we cover everything

What qualifies for a return

What "original condition" means

We don't require that the box be unopened — open it, hold the axe, inspect it. That's the whole point. What we ask:

  • The edge has not been used on wood or any other material
  • The handle has not been re-finished, stained, or modified
  • The leather sheath, care card, and certificate of forge are returned with it
  • The original packing materials are reused where possible

If the axe has been used on wood, we can't accept the return — the edge will show it and we cannot resell a used tool as new.

How to start a return

  1. Email sales@forgeviking.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a one-line reason (we use this to improve our work — there's no script and no callback)
  2. We send a return label and address within one business day
  3. Pack the axe in its original box with all included items, sheath the head in the leather sheath, and ship it back
  4. You'll see your refund within 5–7 business days of us receiving the return, to your original payment method

Who pays return shipping

The axe arrived defective, damaged in transit, or wasn't what was ordered We pay — return shipping, replacement, or full refund — your choice

Refunds

Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5–7 business days of us receiving the returned axe. Bank processing times may add 1–3 days on top. Original shipping is fully refunded; return shipping is the customer's cost unless the return is our fault.

Exchanges

We don't process direct exchanges — it's faster to return the axe for a refund and place a new order for the one you actually want. This way you're not waiting for two shipments to cross paths and your new axe enters production immediately.

Damaged or defective axes

If your axe arrives damaged, broken, or with a manufacturing defect:

  1. Email sales@forgeviking.com within 7 days of delivery
  2. Include your order number and photos of the damage
  3. We will either ship a replacement immediately, repair the axe at no cost, or refund you in full — your choice
  4. You do not pay return shipping, customs, or any fees in this case

Lifetime function guarantee

Beyond the 30-day return window, every ForgeViking axe carries a lifetime function guarantee on the head and structural integrity. If the head cracks, the steel fails, or the wedging gives way under normal use, we repair or replace it. Handles wear out — that's normal — and can be replaced for the cost of materials and return shipping. Full details on our Guarantee page.
